Welcome to The Southland Hockey Association...

February 4, 2010

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Thank you for your interest regarding registration with Southland Hockey for the 2010/11 season.

Below, are links regarding specific information pertaining to registration for the 2010/11 hockey season with Southland Hockey Association (SHA).  A copy of this letters was to have been sent to you through your coach, via hard copy or email, no later than February 15th, 2010 if your child was registered with SHA.

Please ensure you read these letters carefully as there is important information regarding registration deadlines that you need to know and follow regarding registration for the 2010/11 season.  Fee information is not available at this time, and fees will be determined at the AGM to be held on May 30th, 2010 at the Oakridge Community Center , time to be determined.

Online registration for all age categories will start June 1st, 2010 after our AGM and will close July 31st.  Payment for online registration is by credit card only.

We will have 1 walk in registration on Saturday, June 5th.  This is the only walk in registration and is required for those:

      ·         Needing to pay by cheque

·         have registration credits

·         applying for financial assistance

·         parents whose children are trying out for the Calgary Royals (Bantam & Midget age groups only)

Please see the letters below regarding specific registration information for the appropriate age category for your child.

Players that are registered after the July 31st deadline are subject to a fee increase of $100.00 per player, in all age categories.  We are presently working on updating our Policy & Procedure manual to reflect this fee increase that will be in effect for the 2010/11 season.

Players that reside outside of the following communities MUST register with their designated home association first.  If there is no room within their home association, and SHA requires players in that age category, a potential release may be granted through Hockey Calgary for the player to be registered with SHA.  This will not be possible to determine until closer to the start of the 2010/11 season, and release requests will not be reviewed until this time.

SHA designated communities are:  Bayview, Braeside, Canyon Meadows, Cedarbrae, Haysboro, Oakridge, Palliser, Pump Hill, Southwood, Woodbine, Woodlands.  If you reside outside of these communities, please see the Hockey Calgary website (http://www.hockeycalgary.com/associationList.php) for a detailed listing of associations and which communities are covered under each association.

For parents interested in registering their child in our Mighty Mites program, SHA will only be accepting players from within our boundaries.

If you do not reside within our boundaries, please email the SHA Registrar by clicking registrars@southlandhockey.com and put the subject of "Out of District Mighty Mites Registration.   Advise that you wish to register your child for the Mighty Mites program and your name will be added to a waiting list.  Depending on program availability, you will receive an email from the program coordinator around October 15th to advise whether or not there is space for your child in our program.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the SHA registrar at registrars@southlandhockey.com

 Thank you
